Christmas Organizing Tips

Get some help.  Hire a local teen to help you wrap gifts and address envelopes.

Set deadlines.  Order mail order gifts by November 1st.  Finish shopping by November 15th.  Complete cards by November 30th.  Finish gift wrapping by December 10th.

Complete cards efficiently.  Write your return address on each envelope, then address each one, then stamp each one.  Finally, write notes and sign cards.  Mail as completed.

Fix the "what do I wear to the holiday party" problem.  Find a perfect, plain black dress or pantsuit that you can wear for years.  Simply change jewelry, scarves, belts and other accessories for a new look each time.

Shop immediately after Christmas and stock up on wrapping paper, bows, tags and decorations.

Input your Christmas card list into your computer so you can simply run off the addresses and write  them on envelopes each year.

Start a holiday binder.  Fill it with menus, party, gift and decorating ideas.

Keep a basket of mail order catalogs, a pen and sticky notes in your home.  Mark ideas as you look through the catalogs.

Stock up on extra gifts so you won't be caught without.  Need ideas?  Consider picture frames, toys, picture albums, and ornaments.

Store holiday dishes and cookbooks with decorations.
